Boston Red Sox Roster Moves 3/27
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Red Sox wrapped up their spring schedule yesterday with a 4-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Richard Fitts got the start going 3.1 innings he didn’t allow a run on two hits; he walked one and struck out three. Fitts is the Red Sox eighth-ranked prospect by ITD, he was acquired in the trade for Alex Verdugo with the New York Yankees. Boston will start their season tomorrow in Seattle with Brayan Bello taking in the ball to kick off the 2024 season and he will go up against Luis Castillo for Seattle. Today the Red Sox acquired a pitcher from the Tampa Bay Rays in Naoyuki Uwasawa. The Red Sox with the move add some much-needed pitching depth.

Naoyuki Uwasawa By The Numbers

Uwasawa last season pitched in Japan in the Pacific League appearing in 24 games going 9-9 with a 2.96 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and 124 strikeouts in 170 innings. He spent nine seasons pitching in Japan appearing in 173 games going 70-62 with a 3.19 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 913 strikeouts in 1,118.1 innings. This spring he appeared in four games going 0-1 with a 13.03 ERA, a 2.38 WHIP, and nine strikeouts in 9.2 innings. The 30-year-old signed a minor league deal with the Rays but wasn’t going to make the team after camp so they were looking for a move.
