After trade of Stefon Diggs, who could be the next WR on the move?

The Buffalo Bills sent shockwaves through the NFL on Wednesday by trading star wideout Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. The trade of an All-Pro and multiple-time Pro Bowler is a massive shakeup, but Diggs may not be the last proven pass-catcher to change zip codes.

This year's NFL Draft has an abundance of talent at wide receiver, but teams that miss out might take the Texans' route and hit the trade market. With that in mind, here are three wideouts that could be on the move before the start of the 2024 campaign.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers

Despite General Manager John Lynch's denials, rumors of an Aiyuk trade persist, and for good reason.

Entering the final year of his contract after the 49ers picked up his fifth-year option, Aiyuk wants to get paid. However, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, San Francisco isn't prepared to meet the wideout's price, and the two sides are "not close" to agreeing on a contract extension.

Aiyuk and the Niners seemingly want the same result, but getting there is easier said than done, especially since the team already has three players making north of $20 million with quarterback Brock Purdy's payday looming.

Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals placed the franchise tag on Higgins, which will pay him $21.8 million in 2024. However, disappointed over the lack of extension talks with the team, the fifth-year pro has also requested a trade

Clearly, after three 100-catch campaigns and two 1,000-yard seasons, Higgins believes he's earned security in years and cash. But there may not be room for him with Cincinnati already on the hook for a $275 million extension with QB Joe Burrow, which kicks in this season.

Plus, star wideout Ja'Marr Chase is also due a hefty raise following the 2024 season.

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

Like the 49ers with Aiyuk, the Cowboys triggered Lamb's fifth-year option, scheduled to be $17.9 million this season. However, there are no guarantees beyond that for the former first-round pick—owner Jerry Jones hinted as much recently.

Jones already seems to be creating a narrative, having openly compared the value of a Lamb extension to paying four or five players. Meanwhile, he left open a future without him in Arlington, saying, "Whoever has CeeDee," when discussing contract negotiations.
