Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon: ‘We’re looking to add good football players everywhere’
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals continue to ponder on how they will maneuver throughout the offseason to improve their roster.

While they haven’t made a franchise-altering move just yet, Arizona plans to make moves ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Sitting down with Cardinals team reporter Dani Sureck, head coach Jonathan Gannon was asked about what Arizona was missing last season and the positions that need to be filled offensively.

When he replied, Gannon shared there are a plethora of places he is targeting for improvement, not only one area.

“We’re looking to add good football players everywhere,” Gannon said. “Obviously, the offensive line – I always think in my mind – I look to first. There’s five guys on that and they got a tough job and running pass game. And then how many playmakers can we surround Kyler [Murray] with? So that comes in different shapes and sizes and forms and positions. So as long as we add good football players, we’ll be on our way.”

So far this offseason, Arizona has re-signed both LB Jesse Luketa and OL Carter O’Donnell for another year. An additional 12 players were signed to “futures” contracts as well.

“Futures” Contract Signings

WR Dan Chisena, WR Michael Ojemudia, CB Darren Hall, WR Daniel Arias, OL Austen Pleasants, CB Verone McKinley III, WR Andre Baccellia, OL Jackson Barton, WR Kaden Davis, OL Marquis Hayes, RB Tony Jones Jr., TE Bernhard Seikovits, WR Jeff Smith, CB Quavian White

It remains unknown who the Cardinals will select in the 2024 NFL Draft. Arizona will consider various options, but several indications point towards them not picking a new quarterback and will stick with Kyler Murray.

Players like receivers Marquise Brown and Greg Dortch are free agents, and the Cardinals will have to decide if they want to work out new contracts with both or let them walk.

Off of a 4-13 season, expect some drastic roster changes soon to come from Arizona, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
