Erin Andrews won’t ‘take any credit’ for playing matchmaker with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

Erin Andrews is happy seeing Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift together but does not want any credit for the relationship. In an interview with the New York Post, the Fox Sports NFL reporter was asked about being responsible for Kelce dating Swift.

“We don’t take any credit for that! We just had fun with it,” Andrews said while laughing.

It started when Andrews and fellow Fox Sports NFL reporter Charissa Thompson talked about getting Kelce together with Swift on the Calm Down podcast. “We said, you know, ‘Hey Taylor, date Travis Kelce! He’s so fabulous! Do it for America!’” Andrews said. “We just had fun with it.”

Andrews and Thompson said this after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end talked about Swift on his New Heights podcast last summer. When Swift talked about the relationship in an interview Time magazine in December, she mentioned Kelce’s call out being the thing that got it started.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift said at the time. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

When Swift and Kelce became official, a small group of NFL fans voiced their furstation with the NFL for giving too much attention to Swift during the games, leading to some believing that she is bad for the sport.

“This whole media fascination with her being involved in our sport, and people having opinions about it hurting the league — are you kidding me? She’s incredible for our sport,” Andrews said in the New York Post interview. “I find [Swift] to be completely fascinating and empowering, and I feel like now more than ever. She’s opened the door to these young female viewers.”

Andrews continued: “I loved watching sports because of my dad. I grew up thinking these players were my friends. And a lot of guys come up to me and say, ‘This is so cool that [Swift] was able to get my daughter interested in watching a game, and now I can sit and teach her about it.’”
