AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani admits his disappointment for failing to claim the club’s second star ahead of crosstown rivals Inter Milan.

Both Milanese giants currently have 19 league titles in the trophy cabinet.

However, the Nerazzurri are now on the cusp of securing their 20th Scudetto title and subsequently unlocking a second golden star.

Simone Inzaghi’s men are leading the Serie A charts with a 14-point cushion over the Rossoneri.

Therefore, Furlani laments the situation, as he would have liked to beat Inter for the honor. Nevertheless, he’s adamant that his club will be looking to make up for next term.

“It’s obvious that we would have liked to earn the second star before Inter,” admitted the Milan CEO in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“We aim to do so next season. We’re not that far away. we pulled the neck out of the water of a company that risked bankruptcy after the Chinese ownership.

“Now, we have to continue on the same growth path to catch up with the best clubs in Europe.

On another note, Furlani discussed the San Siro renovation project launched by Milano Mayor Giuseppe Sala.

However, he insists that Milan’s priority remains building their own stadium in San Donato.

“To be truly and constantly competitive in Europe you have to keep up with the other clubs. And without a modern stadium, your plans remain incomplete.

“The San Donato project is the most attractive one for us. We’re moving forward on this path.

“Mayor Sala and WeBuild proposed the idea of a renovation project for San Siro, of which we don’t know the details.

“We’re listening to the various options, but the main road remains the one that leads to San Donato.”
