Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi insists their Coppa Italia semifinal clash with Fiorentina remains alive.

Carnesecchi was superb in last night's first-leg 1-0 defeat.

He later told Sky Italia: "We improved a lot in the second half, we tried to draw the match. We'll take this second half better than the first, we will try to make up for it in the return leg.

"Certainly everything is still open, we need to recharge our mental and physical energies and give everything at home, we are aiming a lot at the Coppa Italia."

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti was in the stands and Carnesecchi also said: "The European Championship is a dream, playing a competition like this for the senior national team is a dream for all children who start playing football.

"I'm happy that the coach takes me into consideration, I have to just work well with the club and continue to dream."
