Mason Greenwood‘s charges of domestic abuse and attempted r*pe were dropped in February 2023 . Manchester United decided to part ways with the forward, sending him to Spain on loan to Getafe. Currently on loan, Getafe are trying their hardest to keep the youngster at the club.

Along with Getafe, FC Barcelona are also after Greenwood. With his stocks increasing in La Liga, chief Javier Tebas believes Greenwood needs to stay in La Liga. Tebas told Financial Times Business of Football Summit that he believes as long as the forward is innocent, he will be successful in Spain.

I am a lawyer, if someone has come out of a legal case innocent, there is nothing to say. He is innocent. He is another great player, maybe the circumstances didn’t make it easy for him to come but he is doing really well in Getafe as a player and I hope he continues to be successful and he continues to stay in Spanish football. Tebas further added that as a lawyer, he respects the legal decisions and people couldn’t be worried about him anymore. He claimed that everyone can’t judge him now that the ruling has gone in his favor and everyone should just accept it. When reminded that the charges were dropped and he was not found innocent, Tebas claimed he didn’t care as he wasn’t condemned.

Manchester United to decide on Mason Greenwood’s future yet again

Recently, Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed he was ready to relook the Mason Greenwood situation. He has asked a team of advisers to go over the player’s case and decide if he could return to Old Trafford in the next season.

Along with his advisors, Sir Ratcliffe wants to know what the fans and club officials feel on a possible return for the controversial footballer. Erik ten Hag is also fine with the return of Greenwood as long as all parties are okay with it.

According to The Sun, the club were ready to take him back when it came to his football abilities, but Sir Ratcliffe wants to see if it is possible to bring him to Premier League football. The decision will now be made at the end of May, after the end of the ongoing season. United will need to fend off FC Barcelona if they do decide to keep Greenwood back.
