'LaLiga is not like this' – Jackson on criticism he’s faced and being a striker at Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson has been honest in assessing his time as a Chelsea striker so far and admits that he has been feeling the pressures of it.

To be the main man up top for Chelsea is a huge pressure for any striker, and many have come, tried, and failed, even more experienced players.

Jackson has certainly not failed, and he has come in as a young player and actually has a pretty decent scoring record for Chelsea so far. But he’s certainly been very inconsistent, and that led to a lot of criticism of him from fans and pundits, many believing him to not be good enough and to never be good enough to play for Chelsea.

But Jackson is doing all he can to silence his critics with some decent performances of late, but he admits that he has not found it easy dealing with the criticism since he was not used to it in Spain.

In an interview with talkSPORT last night, Jackson said: “When I first came [the criticism bothered me]. LaLiga is not like this. So when I first came, a little bit. But now, after talking to the coach and realising the most important thing is us, I don’t care about these things anymore. Sometimes I go to sleep watching the same videos, always thinking I should’ve done better.

“It’s not easy [being a striker for Chelsea].

“If you think of all the strikers that came here, you would not want to come here. If you think about the strikers that come here, and people say they’re not good enough, you would think, ‘There is no need for me to come here.”
